Attendant/Rescuer Job Description

An Attendant/Rescuer is a company Field Technician that is in Year 1 and 2 of their apprenticeship. Their primary tasks are confined space hazard monitoring and emergency assistance.

Working Environment

Our field personnel can expect:

  •  90% of work done is in an industrial environment, perhaps outdoors, in all types of weather.
  •  10% of work done in an office environment.
  •  Climb stairs, ladders, inclines and walk over relatively large distances.
  •  Lift and carry equipment such as hoists, breathing apparatus, stretchers etc. (up to 20kg in weight).
  •  Must be willing to work longer than scheduled hours on occasion. Some shiftwork and traveling outside the GTA can be expected.
  •  Primary mode of traveling is in a pickup truck with 13′ trailer attached.

Duties

  1. Prepare and pack supplies, equipment (as required) for each project.
  2. When at a jobsite, set up or pack up the equipment required for the project.
  3. Monitor the job to ensure the Entrants in the confined space remain safe at all times
  4. Maintain accurate, concise documents required by the project.
  5. Can at times be required to render emergency aid (including the handling of and exposure to body fluids and the exposure to infections and disease).
  6. Clean and maintain equipment used during a project.
  7. Must always be ready to make critical decisions at a moments notice and in situations that are often tense and difficult.
  8. May occasionally have to deal with hostile, and on the rare occasion, physically violent persons.
  9. Visibility of position may lead to involvement in legal actions.
  10. Is encouraged to act as a Company Health and Safety Representative.

     

Pre-requiste Technical Skills/Knowledge

Must Have:
· Mechanical aptitude
· Industrial work experience
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills

· Flexibility and ability to perform a variety of tasks with changing priorities and deadlines

Performance Appraisals

After 6 months of employment and then on or near the anniversary date of your hiring
Performance Evaluations take place. Failure to meet Safetyscope standards could result in
termination of employment.
